Farm stock I class

To all Southern ILL Pullers: I would like to know what you think about starting a Farm Stock 1 class,3mph-REG.tires,15.5x38 max. I think this would bring back the Guy or Gal who just wanted to pull the tractor that they have without the cost and labor of top cut tires. Then you get them hooked on pullin again-more tractors for the promoter=Profit. Still keep Farm stock II class, 4mph-top cut tires, 15.5x38 max. Mike

Sounds good but, How do you tell the diffrence between top cut and road worn. So I top cut my tires then get my son-in-law to run them on his sprayer for a while. But I agree on the speed or split the diffrence at 3.5 mph Isn't that NATPA speed.

If it goes over good all of the modifieds will change tires and be in there.Look what tractors are running 4 MPH Farm- ITPA,6mph open tractors.

Where there's competition, there will be competitive advantages. Adding to what Vic said, you better have a tech man with the bawls to make the call on what's cut and what's not. Not allowing cuts can lead to the "best cheater wins" as well as extraordinary measures to FIND a good set of tires, vs just cutting the darn things.

If you don't want to spend any money on your tractor just show up and have fun, you shouldn't need a special class for that. If you want to bring gramp's old (truly stock) tractor to one of your pulls, you're fully entitled to do that, just don't be disappointed that 80% of the tractors have more umph than you do and don't complain when you can't compete HP wise. Whether you you beat anyone or not, did you have fun? If you're just there to have fun, it shouldn't matter if you win or loose.

That class would probably live for about 1 year before being corrupted by seasoned pullers who know how to skirt the rules. My 3 cents worth.

I think bring back a stock class would be good. Have stock draw bar maybe lower hitch to 18in. Maybe have more local pullers come out for a good time.

I pull off and on and just run all the safety equipment could care less if i get beat and most of my tractors never fall into a specific class i just enjoy the day and make alot of exhibition pulls cus turbos are not allowed in the classic class thats why i think their should be turbo classes in the classics just my 2cents worth

Eliminate any and all paybacks for such classes. Pullers won't be so eager to spend big dollars when they stand to get nothing back but simple bragging rights, which is pretty much how the sport all got started. Do it like a benefit pull. People will pay 10-20 bucks to hook to the sled to see how far they can go or to just listen to their tractor grunt down the track. It's more fun for me now to do it that way. All the bitching has gotten old....fast!

Our club runs a class just like this.

It was the mainstay for 20 years!

If interest in pulling in the area is high, then more and more will come.

A club wants tractors to attend to succeed, and if you have alot of pullers waiting to run a class like that,, then give em a class!!

JMO. ChadS

we have a similar class with 18 inch hitch but for tires we have a 210 sq. inch rule with lets 14.9's, 15.5's ect. and a 3mph speed limit

if somebody is serious about pulling they will cut their tires and do what it takes to win dont change the rules just for afew guys that will only show up ounce a year, will not have safety equipment , and complain if they cant win

Chad how many tractors in our club are stock that pull farm stock. As far as I am concerned our Farm stock class should be division 2 tractors. The only time you really see some farm stock tractors are in the local class when they come right out of the barn or off of the hay wagon. I think if our club would adapt USAP rules it would be better because all of the Illegal farm stock tractors would have some true competition. If I was to bring a stock H to our farm class it wouldnt go half track compared to the other so called Farm Stock H tractors. Name 5 Farm stock tractors in our club.

Remember how many tractors where at Tamora for that class. Looked like quite a few to me.We all have to start some place. That is how i started with the old plow classes and got hooked.

keep farm stock1 class like farm stock like what you farm with not what you go to drag races withpretty simple first gear only and they tire and wheel it came and no hot rods i got both farm stock and modified take away farm stock and watch out

like i said pull 2 one farm stok and one modfied pretty simple they farm stock is way it came is that it has two different tires but that is chaging from 13.6 36 to 14.9 38 is that a problem and motor is chaging on the modfied ok

The longer the club member pays his/her dues, the more and more modified they get each year to win. Look at our membership, alot of tractors been around for a long time,,,,,,,, so over the years that you, me and they, know that work has been done, and,, we do pretty good.

Right now, you have 4 groups of pullers who are unsettled.

1, New pullers who want to come pull, but set up for super farm,,,,,,,

2, locals, former members, and beginners with a real stock tractor, that don't wanna compete against what we got now.

3, Current members who want super farm rules.

4. Current pullers who don't wanna change anything.

What number on the list will help the club grow??

Of course, my voice in this club is a small one. Remember, no one like me really,,,,, ha ha.

Talk with everyone! see what direction is best for the area, the members, and the types of rules to suit them all.

We need change, our current farm rules move to the local class, offer two classes of locals. Let the hopped up stockers move up in their quest to pull further. JMHO. Chad

if you want more hooks stop scheduling all the pulls for saturday morning,it is hard for a working man to be able to take saturday off try a few sunday pulls

Very well said Chad. I personaly am not going to do anything to harm my 730 diesel. I do love love to see it pull against tractors in thier stock form . I wish they would police the real farm stock class. Some people dont care about who can spend the most on a motor then put up against stock m or deere.

Thats fine to modify if thats what you want, they're plenty of classes to do so. I think it would be healthy for the sport to have a class that actually started the sport. Some folks just want to go back in time and see the tractors compete in stock form.It wouldn'nt be that hard just to add a true stock class. What bragging rights come with winning a farm stock pull with a G OR M puttin out 80 horses.

Rules would be no different, wheelie bars etc. would be enforced like we do now. Just thought adding a class for 3mph reg. tires 14.9x38 or 15.5x38 for those who did not want to go to top cut for whatever reason. You all know top cuts put 30 ft on reg. tire tractors most times--then they stay home after that. we have been losing tractors over the past years, making it tough for promoters to be enthusiastic about putting a pull on when they can't make a profit.Just think if more tractors would return to the pulls, we might have more local pulls. Vergeenes had a great turn out with a class like this.

Tom you have been pulling with the the club long enough to know what is stock and what is not. I agree that Arts tractor is stock as well as Jake and his Dads M. As far as your tractor and Waynes 44. They used to pull Modified. Can you name 5 tractors that are farm stock that pull in our club.

Waynes 101.
Tom's 42 DC (Tom had 2 tractors)
My 54 Super H
Moore's Super H
Hoppers M
Son's Super H's

They dont attend them all,,, But considered regulars. Chad
