Farmall 400 T/A

I am thinking of building a 400, I want to have somewhere around 80 hp. I am just curious about the power that the t/a could handle. I am new to the forum and looking forward to any help from you guys! Thanks

I am pulling an 450 and have pulled in direct and have not lost power but broke traction. I have wondered how it would do with TA back. The club here will let you use TA once.

Pull my 400 up to 10500 all the time with no issues.

D beatty. if your spinning out and have plenty of power you don"t want to use low range as it will give you more power to spin the wheels. You might want to gear up and use low range, that might work or go to the next class. I was told by my shop in pa that under 100 horse the regular TA is fine. I pull a 560 in 1200/12500 and it is fine. I pull a 400 up to 10500 with no problem.

We pull antique classes and only let you use low gear but Farmalls with TAs can tork once in a class. This year got back into pulling after 30 years of not pulling ( job keep me from pulling). The last pull I went to this summer I didn't do to bad first in 5,000- 7000lb. class, third in 6,000-10,000 class and sixth in 7,500 class. The Farmall 450 weighs 6,892lbs. with driver.

Hey thanks for the info. Where might I find a heavier t/a? If I have to put one in I might as well go stronger.
