We have a 450 Farmall that we want to do some pullin with in the 6500lb class, ours has a narrow front end,new 14.9/38 Firestones on 14" rear rims,clutch,T/A and engine are all stock and in great running condition.I am running this tractor on a 14" disc and it performs guite well in second gear D/D,the motor spins at 1650 in neutral.
Ok,the short and sweet here is that I need some advice on ign timing and a good governor setup, maybe just a spring change for more RPM"s as I want to pull this tractor in 3 gear for better ground speed.
Thanks

All the things you want to do will help. But not to bust your bubble You probably don't have enough power for 3rd gear, I would bet on that. Tune it up and watch what gear the other pullers are running in. I will guess most of them are in 2 or 1 gear.

JM, 450's are very nose heavy do to the overall length (because of the TA addition) 6500LBS is going to be close on weight. I would suggest a good spring, and focus more on the 7500 if you have the weights. Put it in first gear and you will do fine in a stock class. I wouldn't play with timing unless you can adjust it on a dyno. I never got mine to truly hook up well until 8500, I had 16.9 x34,s and a 20'' drawbar height. with 60HP on dyno
