Farmall A front pivot pin

I'm removing (attempting) the front axle assembly to do several repairs. I have loosened the clamp bolts (steering gear casting) on each end of the pivot pin. I can move the pin about 1/8th inch each way with a persuader, then it stops solid. Any ideas on how to remove this? Could it be frozen in the front bushing?

Did you take the bolts out all the way out?, there are groves in the piviot pin that the bolt lock into. If there out then theres nothing else that can hold it.

Andrew Z is correct; you need to remove both bolts fully. Even then I had a hard time HAMMERING the pin out. It seemed pretty loose but still took quite some effort to remove and the pin didn't even have wear grooves or nicks...

Tims: Andrew is right, what you are calling clamp bolts, actually cut close to 3/16" through a notch in the pin. Slow down a bit Tim, looks things over a bit more closely before grabing the hammer.

If you have both bolts out it should move but due to lack of grease the pin can be worn enough to be hard to remove. That pin is under cut where it rides on the pivot only the ends are full size. When you get it removed and need a new one i have some.
