Farmall "B" question

I'm looking at an early 1940's Farmall B that is as narrow as an A. Does anyone know if it could be factory or if someone has removed the axle extension afterwards?

I'm looking at an early 1940's Farmall B that is as narrow as an A. Does anyone know if it could be factory or if someone has removed the axle extension afterwards?

If the left side final drive is bolted directly to the transmission and doesn't have a long axle like the right side then it's been modified. Most likely for a mower,makes it more narrow so the mower fits better. I've seen several done like that ...... definitely not factory
