Farmall C PTO shaft seal part 3

Success at last. Got the gear off and the shaft out. What an effort!!
Had to weld a 1 14tpi nut on to the gear (to be removed later) and drive a bolt in to press/pull the gear off.
After 100's of blows and some blood its off. No damage done except to my finger. Moving on to seal replacement now and reassembly.

For next time...

This is just a mock up, but shows the EASY way to remove a seal.

Poke 3 holes in the seal being careful not to nick the shaft and grab an autobody dent puller.

Or, if needed, an even bigger screw and a larger slide-hammer with the adapter nut shown.

Or, you could have set the housing in a press and pushed the shaft out.

I don't have one of those tools, perhaps for next time?
Turns out there were 2 seals in there and the shaft is a bit scored so will be using a speedi-sleeve with the new seal(s).
In the end I'm glad I did it my way because I can clean everything up and it only cost me the nut, bolt and some argon.
Pretty sure TIG welding the nut on loosened it all up which is what I hoped would happen.
And luckily all parts except the seals are re-usable and in decent condition.
