Farmall cam question

I know you guys will probably laugh at me, but is there any cams out there(that are a little over stock) for a Farmall F-12? I'm really not too keen on spray welding, cause I've heard of peeling.

Also, I might be way off here, I've heard of people fastening spacers on the tops of pistons to get more compression. Is this possible? It sounds like it could work, cause it is a low rpm motor. On the F-12's there is a combustion chamber that is about an inch deep. MAXIMUM I can take off the head is probably about 1/8". Pistons now come up to the top of cylinder, so the only way to gain compression is to make the top of the piston grow. The pistons can't come up any higher cause of the rings coming out of the block, so stroking is out. Any info would be helpful. Thanks, Doug

1. Yes, you can bolt stuff to the tops of the pistons. 3/8" grade 8 works fine. Double nut it or tack the nut to the bolt after torquing, or both.
2. Yes, you can still stroke it, just either change your rods or change your pistons (think outside the box)
3. You can get your cam reground - I don't think any metal is added, just taken away.

You can use a cam out of a 504 IH tractor.

I seen where the flait top pistons for F 12 and the A exchange so why knot try the Hi Compression A pistons and shape them for your Coumbustion chamber! Then get Sonny at Bullet cams to grind your Cam or you can stroke it with larger pistons etc But that can get expensive!

we have bolted lots of aluminum on the tops of pistons, had them balanced and spun them as fast as they would go it makes easy cheap hp.
