still looking at this farmall cub it is a 49. it has chrome farmall cub. no stickers / decals. is this correct. why is it different? thank you for your time and any help.

A 1949 does not have the chrome letters, of course the hood could have been swaped out. Hard to say what the value of it is,,is motor stuck, what kind of rubber,,,etc..

If it has stainless lettering than it's not a 1949 CUB; or, the hood has been replaced.
Stainless lettering would most likely be from a 1955,56,57, or early 58 CUB.

Did you determine the year by the serial number?

It could have a later version of the hood on it.

Or, you could be missing a digit on the serial number.

Cubs actually had two different versions of "chrome" emblems on them between 1956 and 1962.

a picture would help. too many variables, cub not running. 2 cubs could be same year model, sitting side by side and depending on condition, tires, paint, etc etc. one may be worth $1000 and the other $300. cub will weigh out about $160 for scrap, if it weighs about 1700 pounds.

hope this helps. again many thanks

If there are no major mechanical issues (engine knock, cracked block, etc.) you have about a $1200 tractor as it sits. Yes, the hood isn't right, but the mower and overall condition would bring that money if getting it running is a simple tune up (points, plugs, condenser, clean carb).

If it were running, and had correct hood, cleaned up, etc. It would be closer to a $1500 - $1700 machine in my area of the country. Mower deck and mounts makes those numbers in line.

Again, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

ah, woods belly mower. looks like it has rear lift arms, etc, for cultivators. does it have a quick hitch. this will add to the value. looks pretty good. tires look good, that is a plus.

no, it does not. a quick hitch is a socket , into which a bar from an implement goes. it is a fast way to attach the implement.

with engine not running, tires weather cracked, pretty good paint; i would try to buy tractor in the 6-8 hundred range. belly mower will bring 2-3 hundred and tractor can be parted out if motor does not run or does not run well. or you can sell tractor by itself without mower.

you are taking a chance if it does not run and you probably do not care to part tractor out if it does not run.

good luck

so do not offer any more than what you are able to see some value in it at this moment.
