Farmall Cub

Its me again. I finally got the motor freed up in the cub. Havent got it running yet but got it free. But now I noticed that the clutch is sticking. When you press down on the petal you can feel that is doesnt seem to be ingaging till about the last quater inch. Then when you take your foot off it will stay down and you have to pull it back up with your foot. Any ideas what could be going on? I greased the throughout berring and it seems to be sliding okay

Sounds like the return spring located under the floorboard. Looks like (is like) the brake pedal return springs. If the clutch takes up okay and doesn"t slip, it might just need a new spring. I bought new ones a few months ago from my local International/Case dealer for very few bucks.

I had a similar problem with a cub that I bought a few years ago. I found that PB blaster improved the situation but that it would still bind at times. I finally decided to seperate the tractor where the engine mounts to the torque tube. It was not as difficult as it may sound. I found that rodents had gotten into the tube and built-up the whole tube with debris (previous owner left the observation cover off). After a lot of cleaning I was able to completely disassemble the linkage and make sure that all contact points were well lubed. Also, as to the clutch engaging at the low point of the stroke - I remember that there are three or four (maybe more) adjustment bolts at the clutch to push the clutch fingers back a bit. I believe that they are there so that you can adjust the stroke as your pressure plate wears.
