Farmall engine

After Tallmage I pulled the oil pan on my 540 and replaced the rod and main bearings for general maintenance. That engine has always got a spoon full of water after 2 or 3 days of pulling since the day it was built. I pressurized the cooling system and looked up at the Bazed in liners and could spot a drop of antifreeze where it was brazed. I roughed it up and put some belezona on that spot. It seems to have no leaks now have any of you guys had this problem and what was your fix without doing a major tear down.

Ill give that a try as well. It looks like they are brazed very well. It had to be difficult to do that and not have a leak. I was a Bakers shop and looked at his new design. It seems to me that his set up is going to work better for people than brazing the liners in. I will have to say that Baker and Marlatt are two of the top engine builders out there. Thanks for not giving an ignorant reply I thought that is what I would get for posting this.

Don"t worry about that, just drill a hole in the plug for rad petcock. Let the water out in the morning, and go pulling. Then drain the water if it"s real bad. If you use a straight grade oil it will separate out of the oil, don"t ask me how I no!!!

They are not brazed. They have a deck plate on top With custon Darton flange sleeve. The bottom deck is plated on the bottom side in between t he bores. The sleeves are lock tightened with Loctite 638 or 609 and are replaceable. The oiling system that he uses makes sure nothing gets in the bearings. If you have any questions give him a call. A very respectfull person who will help anyone.

here we are using Low-Viscosity hydrolic oil for cooling ...can get it at a John Deere dealer (sic) this stuff pours like water and cools well dont worry about the mixing no water in the oil ..just oil in the oil ...been doing this for years with out any trouble ....does not freeze and if it leaks where it should not ...oh well at least it wont rust and stick the engine....IHSMOKE
