Farmall F-20

I am restoring a 1938 Farmall F-20 and I am trying to figure out if it is a narrow tread or if it is a regular tread. Its serial number is FA 124593. Does this mean it is narrow tread or regular tread? Also, where do I measure between the back wheels to determine if it is narrow tread or regular tread. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

If it left the factory as a narrow tread it will have an N at the end of the serial number on the frame and tag. A pic from the rear would make it easy for us to tell you.

Here is a pic of a narrow tread, it has the quick attatch brackets on it , but if you look close , the difference between a narrow tread and wide tread are easy to see.

It's a Narrow!
It may not have left the factory a "Narrow" but it is now.
Many things are added after manufacture such as hydraulic lift and electric start - often by a dealer.

the sidewalls are cracked really bad but they still hold air so I will run em till they blow. May be the originals from my 39 F-20.

(quoted from post at 18:18:48 06/17/14) yep

You would sure like the few displays we have sitting around at work Rob.........TWO of those tires brand new and never mounted sitting on a pair of eisel's in our big meeting room.

I reeeeaaaaaalllllllly wanna take em home!

The axle tube from the rear end out to the drop axle is noticeably shorter on a narrow tread. If you have ever seen one of each, it is very easy to tell the difference. I can't really tell you the measurements because I don't know exactly what they are. You can't really measure in relation to the wheels because many of the wheels are either adjustable for width, or can be turned around for a width difference.
