Farmall F-20

just wondering how many farmall f-20s were made with the duckbill front end and how many had a serial number beginning with TA? i was told that these were the transition models between the regular and f-20. any information is appreciated. thanks in advance. also when did farmall change from gray paint to red.

the "duckbill" steering was used on ser # TA135000 - 135,661 and FA501 - FA4339 So yeah, a little over 4000 tractors. The paint change was announced in Nov of 1936 which would have been effective for the 1937 model year.

The 661 TA serial number tractors were made in '34. They are not a transition, they used this run of tractors to burn up lots of Regular parts stock after the 20 had been in production for two years. Seems like they had the Regular rear end housing without the little "footpeg" cast in and the three speed transmission. I've been trying to buy a dead one up the road from me for several years.

i've got a chance to buy a running F-20 with the duckbill front end, a TA serial number, PTO, belt pulley, and road gear for $450. i dont know a whole lot about F-20s and just was looking for information to see if this was a ok deal or maybe a really good deal. thanks for all the information.

Yeah, that is a really good deal. It should be a good tractor to hang on to, only 661 out of what, 155,000 F20's? Buy it, put it on steel and sell the road gear on E-bay. It is one of the rarest 20's and should only increase in value in my opinion.
