farmall fast hitch

i have a farmall 140 with quick or fast hitch. there is a rod, which connects from lift to the front of the quick hitch. about 3 feet long, which controls the tilt of the hitch. the rod i have had a short bend, near the hitch. a friend attempted to straightened and broke about 4 inches off the lower end. hmmm. can we bore a new hole and use , without welding the broken piece back on?

For some reason I want to think it will be too short to connect back up and the fast hitch wishbone not hit the floorboard. I made 1 out of channel iron 3 inches shorter than the original, and that was as short as you could go without interference best I can remember. The reason for the lower curve is to duck around the fertlizer clutch drive assembly and not have to remove the rod.

I really have no clue what you are talking about never been around those peanut pusher tractors, Cub - C of which your machine is a variant. I seriously doubt if the part you are talking about has something to do with leveling that you can drill a hole shorten the rod and change its anchor point. It would at least help me if I new what rod you are talking about. In the link click on 12-Frame, then on 09-2. That will open previews to all the sections pertaining to the hitch. Find the one that has the part in it you are talking about and what number it is in the diagram. Report back telling us that number and what preview diagram it is in. Double clicking the preview box takes you into the parts listing and diagram for the subsection. To view linked diagrams like this it may be helpful to open the link in a new browser tab. To do this put your mouse pointer the link and right click. A choice to open in a new tab will be shown. When you do this watch the top of your screen and you will see another ..tab.. open with the parts diagram in it. This will leave your tab to view YT open. Then you can click back and forth between the two just do not hit the X. When done you can X out that tab or close the entire browser, makes no difference. Some computer are set to open links in new tabs anyway. Maybe you already knew this and I am wasting my button poking.

this is the rod. could not find one on the page that you gave to me.

Straight at the bottom, slides into a round receiver and hooked with a pin. Curve at the top.

Jim your fertlizer drive clutch setup is different than what I'm accustomed to. It must be a Cole or possibly John Blue brand ? It sure is less bulky than the traditional Farmall brand style. I have seen the rods bent at the bottom like the op is talking about but do not know for certain if it was a factory thing or not.

Most of these rods were straight. The curved ones I have seen have been found more frequently on newer model 140's. I can't say for certain if this was a factory thing or not. Someone could have tired of taking the rod out to enable the use of the fertlizer distributor for a few moments and wised up to a fix to keep it in place.

Does anyone have any close up pictures of these particular bars that allows you to keep them on and the fertilizer hoopera s well? Or can you tell me were its bent at ?

I gotta ask why???? If you don't know, don't answer?? 😔 Sheesh

G luv, if you look that part of the post is older, Ashley in reply 11 revived the post and is currently wanting info from this post. This may not really answer your question of why I replied if I didn’t know. I was mostly just providing the link to the diagram so it could be pointed out what was being talked about, apparently those rods are not shown. I thought we were on okay terms, I tried to help you out with that Ford trans your wife overhauled but then it didn’t work right. I guess I needed thrown under the bus for whatever reason.

All the ones that I have seen have the 1st bend in them right at the backside area where the fertilizer clutch is located. Personally we do not have one thats bent, but recently obtained a spare rod to make a bent version to have available. What I had planned to do to fab it up is to have the clutch unit installed, leveling bar attached at the lift with front lift down, then scribe a mark on the rod where it will bend around the closest point on the clutch unit. I'm Hoping I can bend it cold in my press bender. It may take a 2nd bend a little closer downwards to the belly pull bar to line things up.

When you get it made O would be intrested in looking at the pictures ad and the functoinability of it.
