how do you tell what engine i have and what valve and ring settings i need

You should have the C152 engine that originally had the 3 3/8 inch pistons, but they may have been changed with an overbore kit without any machining to the block. You need to measure your pistons to see what size you have. The sleeves should be measure for wear too. They may need replacing if worn beyond specs. You should buy a good repair manual as it has a lot of info covering your tractor. The valve lash is .017" hot. Hal
