Four things cause fifth to jump out. none of them are fork or detent related. If the detent in the shift rail and fork are holding it in engagement, the rotating parts are trying to come apart on their own, they should stay engaged without any force being put on them.
1} Bad intermediate bearing clearance (little rollers between shafts)
2} bad input shaft clearance/wear on the two bearings in that unit. they need to be very tight. If the race on either can wiggle with finger pressure, the bearing needs replaced.
3} Crashing it into 5th from 4th 3000 times. (common)
4} ware that is hard to see on the splines causing the slider to wedge itself rearward.
The rear output shaft bearing can also show wear, but it is usually not a cause. When in all tillage gears there is solid pressure pushing the shafts apart. This wears the intermediate bearing which then allows the wear of the teeth on the splines when driving in 5th. It is a pain. Jim
