Farmall M Clutch

My Farmall M clutch doesn't have much pedal left. It grabs at the last inch of pedal. It grabs well with no slipping. Is there an adjustment for my clutch or is it almost time to replace. Thanks, Mark

The last inch of travel is either the inch toward the top (near platform), or bottom (pushing to the far end of travel.
It should have 1.125" of free travel at the top of its travel measured between the platform and the place that touches the platform.
This is spec.
If it is at the extreme other end (pushes down too far to be able to shift) then it needs to be as above.
If it is not making noise, it can probably be adjusted top the spec above by lengthening or shortening the rod from the pedal to the external operating arm. Jim

If it is not engaging until the very last one inch of travel, then it is time to replace the clutch, because there is no adjustment left.

Yes theres an adjustment. Just pull the pin on the clutch fork and turn in the clevis until you have 1 1/2 inch to 2 inch free travel. As a clutch wears the forks will expand away from the pressure plate making it disengage sooner. That's why there is less travel. It's normal to have to adjust the clutch. It's not worn out or you would be slipping.

Had no travel left on a Super M. Replaced the clutch and still had problem adjusting. Found the wear on the cross shaft for the pedals and the pedal wear was too extreme. Had them rebuilt and then the new clutch worked great.
