The original subject was "Farmall M Engine codes".

we have a 1951 farmall M. the previous owner thought the engine was a super M. I was hoping to find out if it was or not. We found to engine serial number as follows - BKM 2 26793 Xl or
PKM 2 26793 X1
on the prefix was worn and it was unclear for the suffix was a one or an lower case L.

Hi. According to my register the engine No would actually appear to make it 1950 Farmall M (not super) and the X1 denotes straight gas fuel. I can't find any X on its own with either an upper or a lower case L. MTF

The numbers & letters can be hard to read but it should be a FBKM with the numbers followed by an X1. Fairly common gas M as Mike said, probably a 1950. Super M"s started a little later in the 50"s. Happy Boxing Day!
