Farmall M mods

There is a pulling club here with a Hp limit. Im looking for mods I can do to a Farmall M to hit 50hp. Some ideas ive come across are running a propane head and using hotter ignition and higher octane. Any other tips would be appreciated. Would like to do what I can without tearing the engine down.

The propane head will cost alot and put you over 50 hp.

50 hp is nothing for that motor , a good 8060 head or 450 gas head done correct will work real well.

You could also put the liners in it with pistons that make it a 281 cubic inch [450].

Spend your money on a head with a good valve job , everything fresh.

I have been useing a 450 gas head with stock stroke and stock cam and was in the mid 70s hp range all day long on the dyno .

MSD does help with a cleaner burn , can't say that it made HP on the dyno.

thompsons M is running about 55 hp...maybr 58 and it pulls OK
