farmall push pull switch

You didn't specify what tractor but magneto switch is usually to ground the mag for stopping. It is open or infinity unless you push it down, then it is closed or conducting to stop.

Mag switch GROUNDS terminal to case when button is depressed.

Two terminal switch... two terminals are insulated from each other and ground, and contact is "made" between the two terminals when the switch knob is popped "up".

one terminal magneto switch is a grounding switch. it stops the engine by shorting the mag. to ground. two terminal switch is for battery ignition. it switches battery voltage to ignition coil, a two terminal switch can be used on mag ignition by wiring one terminal to ground and the other to magneto, however a mag switch with one terminal can never be used with battery ignition.

If it's for a restoration you can get it from case-ih - you want the one with one prong = I put a key switch on mine from napa I asker for a switch that is open when on. I hope this helps.

The 2 prong switch is used on tractors with a distributor ignition, a Magneto uses a 1 prong switch that grounds the magneto terminal when you push in the switch which stops the engine. You can use a 2 prong switch on a magneto if you take one terminal and wire it to ground, but you need to pull out the switch to stop the engine and push it in to run the engine. If you want your restoration to be original, use a 2 prong switch on a distributor ignition or a 1 prong switch on a magneto ignition.

Like others have said original type switches are available but be ready for a shock when you price them.
