I have a 48 Farmall Super AV and I don't yet have the right books to help me with a very basic question. How does one know how full transmission oil should be and what type of oil to use. Thanks for any suggestions.

Left side of casting near brake housing is a plug, the fluid 80-90 Gear oil, should be at or one finger joint down from the hole. Add if low. If milky, drain and change. JimN

Thanks for the advice. I"ve already put some 140 gear oil in. Any problem with that? Here in Sonoma CA we don"t get too cold. I can"t imagine using it when it"s colder than about 50 degrees anyway. More thoughts?? Thanks
