Farmall timing

Just completed my major overhaul on my farmall M.What's the best timing method? It starts up fine and revs good, I just hear alittle popping with the muffler off.

Use a timing lite. There is a pointer on the left side and a V in the pulley

It's probably not a timing issue. Although timing is important, remember that modern fuels may not require the same settings for optimal operation as did the fuels around when it was built.
