I dont really care what the guy thinks??????
but Is this illegal or not to sell something without given permission?

Hum, switching user names, dis-jointed messages.....

After 2 years, I'd a resold the thing too. Don't care what you think. ;)

Would need a lot of details, like did you actually pay for it 2 years ago for starters?

Then it depends on your state laws, which you haven't told us where you live, where the seller lives.

Unless you had a contract written up that the fella would store it for you for years and years after the sale, it's not uncommon for someone to add storage charges in such a deal after 30 to 90 days. For an old scapper combine, the storage could easily be more than the worth of the combine in 2 years.

I think you are looking uphill. Ownership means taking control of an item. When you bought it 2 years ago, you shoulda taken control of your item.

Pretty much your screw-up for not taking care of your item, so you have an uphill road to claim the fella did anything wrong since you pretty clearly abandoned the item for 2 full years....

My view of the issue based on the very limited info you gave.

Lesson learned I hope - take care of your possessions.

Unless you're too young or too dumb to know, If yo buy something, you should have the means to haul it home or at least have someone that will haul it for you. If it were me selling it to you, after 90 days it would be resold & you'd be out in the cold without us making an agreement before I sold it to you. Did you keep in contact with the seller? Honestly now--How hard did you try to find someone or a trailer to haul it with? I sell and buy equipment all the time and make arrangements to go get it if I buy it & darned sure don't want someone else's stuff taking up space on my yard. Just my thoughts, Keith

I don't think you will get any sympathy. Sounds like you learned or maye are learning a harsh lesson. Next time put your big boy pants on and make arrangements.

Ok Guy how do i put my Big Boy pants On when Im already 50,
and collecting this stuff for a few trs?
hahahaha,
Keeping the John Deere,
not letting it go,

When people sell stuff, it’s usually to get rid of the item and draw the cash, not store it for years for free! Many sellers will no longer take a deposit because they don’t want to get messed around like this. I’ve moved equipment hundreds of miles… it costs, but it isn’t that hard to pick up the phone and get something hauled within a week or two just about anywhere. Next time you buy something, figure out how you’re going to move it first. Expecting the guy to hold it for 2 years on a $100 deposit while you find a trailer is a joke.

Not really. Most courts will rule in his favor if you don't pick something up within 90 days unless you have a prior agreement as to when the item will be moved. Anything left pass the agreed pickup date more than 90 days will most of the time be considered abandoned property and revert ownership to the seller. So it becomes one of those "ya snooze ya loose" things.

I saw this post and I think it refers more to how the seller felt after having the thing sit around for 2 years. He was FED UP with you! Be glad he didn't send you a bill for storage and you only gave $100 and not $1000. You'd be out of luck either way. Even at an auction where you pay in full you have to remove the item within a specific time frame unless other arrangements are made in writing. Dave

Kirk,
I regret this happen to you,as I think your much like me,a handshake, and its gold,I bet you live by that too,and it would burn me too. After this hurt, yes, the pain, wears off, write it off as experience,I'm sure you know that, just venting here and looking for some compassion. In my lifetime,it killed me to have one thing happen to me,it was a handshake with a customer that "burned" me.Take care old friend, there is many more "adventures"over the hill....

THATS TOTALLY IT,
I mean I dont care that that MM type S wasnt the most modern combine out there in the late 40's early 50's,
But My Grandpa had one, and It was kinda special to me that he had one
Alot of other's were Gleaners or JD's,
But that MM was different than the other's,
It was the nice Harvest Gold color with the spoke wheel's in front,
I think maybe a 50, or 51, model,
Ive heard theres another one here in kansas somewhere,
Id like to see it,
Thank's Alot Ande
Take It Easy Ok,
Kirk,

Being that old I would think you would know enough not to do this. I'm younger then you and I have bought a few combines that were available because of guys like you. One combine was spoken for but the guy never showed up and the seller's exact words to me over the phone was "first one who shows up with money gets the combine".
