Feed Grinder

Most likely Gehl bought that gear box from another manufacturer, and it is likely that the same gear box was used on Farmhand, Arts-Way, John deere, etc., etc. See if you can find some part numbers on the gear box and go from there.

Geez,I don't know about that. I've had a Gehl 55 and 65,a Deere 700 and now a New Holland 354. The two Gehls were the same, but the Deere and New Holland weren't even close.

Hi Dave, Are you sure it can't be rebuilt? Over
the years never saw one that couldn't be. And yes
a 95 gearcase would be different even from a 65.
Thought I had a parts book and manual left but I
guess they are gone. Best to you. Chuck

The one on my New Holland went up just before Christmas. I got it off and all that was wrong was the two bearings on one shaft. None of the gears were hurt and neither was the shaft. A pair of bearings and cups and a seal,I was back in business.

You are in PA so try Fry's machinery at (570)-546-3968 they have a huge implement salvage yard. But as others said check yours first because it can probably be rebuilt.

If the one you have is not rebuildable . . . you need to find a salvage unit as they are NLA. Fry's is a good place to start.

Thanks Tom, I only live about 30 miles from Fry's but they don't have one. The one I need to replace is broken and it had been welded up by P/O and is really a mess.

Thanks Chuck, but this one is broken and the bearings burnt out. Machine shop would be very costly to make it right. Rather get another one.

What would a replacement mill cost compared to the labor and parts to fix the old one? If other Gehl 95's are available in your area you could get another and save your old one for parts, otherwise scrape it for around $300 or more (1.5 tons?).

junk it ,,gehl /Vermeer makes the poorest engineered junk to farm with ,don't matter if you arecuttin / raking /baling, or grindin /it is very disgustin to operate their stuff if the conditions are less than perfect ,. I am speaking from miserable experience with used worn out products ,,,buy , artsway , farmhand , new Holland ,, and b e happy
