Finally putting posts in. Damn cows keep knocking old one over, so I’m putting in strong fences in. About 500 feet of pipe fence. Them cows won’t be knocking that over. 💪

They'll learn to jump

If they're able to get their heads between pipes they will lay the fence over. It's entertaining to watch one with horns work her head through a fence.

You can always leave the gate open. At least then they will not tear up the fence
Not during breeding season. The bulls will kill each other. I have my 1st calf heifers on one side of a 30 acre pasture and the experienced cows on the other.

We use a very hot wire inside a poor barb wire fence for range cows and they give no problem. Once they know what a hot fence is even the bulls don’t touch it.

My brother once had a bull that figured out he could push through anything and go where he liked. When I went to pick him up for a planed event my brother asked me to drive him over to get his bull out of a neighbor's pasture. When we found the bull my brother asked me to drive over near a large tree. He picked up a stick and started walking toward the bull yelling and waving the stick. The bull had been watching since we drove into the pasture and took off running toward home. I asked my brother if he had been whipping the bull ,he said no but had peppered him with birdshot the day before. The bull thought the stick was a shotgun.

All i use is one or two electric wires.
We used electric wire when the cattle found an opening. We used a 12' galvanize roofing panel over the creek in the fence-line. We once had a huge Angus bull that threw very good calves, but he was always looking for a weak spot in the fence. He found that he could just push the roofing panel up and walk under. Well I attached a battery-powered fence charger to that panel and watched.
One day he walked into the creek, lowered his head and began to walk under the panel. Then the charger hit him with him standing in water. It knocked him down, but his head was still touching the panel. I didn't know a bull could have so much crap in him, and he seemed to be moaning. Oddly enough that was the last time he tried to get out of that pasture.

when i was about 4 or 5 years old daddy put up 3to400ft of hot wire the first i had seen soooo i tried it out grabbed it with both hands he had to knock me loose haven't tried that again
