MY LIFT IS WEAK IT WILL LIFT A SCOOP OR ROUGHLY 200LBS ANY MORE THEN THAT AND IT DONT EVEN BUDGE
I HAVE REPLACED THE OIL WITH THE PROPER SAE80-90 RECOMMENDED IN THE BOOK AND IT DID NOT HELP IT ALSO DROPS VERY QUICKLY IF YOU DISENGAGE THE PUMP OR PUSH IN THE CLUTCH IT HAS A MAJOR LEAK OR SOMETHING SOMEWHERE BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT TO CHECK OR WHERE TO START I WOULD BE VERY GREATFULL FOR ANY HELP I COULD GET THANKYOU

Open the side cover on the right hand side, start the engine,(DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PUT YOUR HAND IN THE HYDRAULIC COMPARTMENT WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING!), make sure the pto is engaged, and move the lift lever full up. Watch the lift cylinder which is right under the lift cover. If you see a lot of fluid streaming down from the lift cylinder, you've found the problem-a scored or cracked lift cylinder, or worn piston seals and they need to be fixed.

You'll need to get a Ferguson Shop Manual(~$20+) to tell you how to remove cover and get at the cylinder.

OK SO I PULLED THE INSPECTION COVER OFF (THE DIPSTICK SIDE) FIRED IT UP AND SO ON AND THERE WAS A NOTICEABLE PULSATEING TYPE WAVE OR TURBULANCE COMING DIRECTLY OUT OF THE PUMP HOUSING WHAT WOULD YOU GUYS SAY THIS MIGHT BE

Was it at the part of the pump rearward facing side of the pump and making noise besides the turbulence? It may have been the relief valve stuck partially open. Some crap or corruption holding it part way open. Note where it's at and shut down. Feel around and it feels like a spark plug. Remove it and clean it up. and see if that solves your problem. If it's damaged than they are ~$25+/-/.
Did you look up toward the cylinder and check that for a leak, too?

THE TURBULANCE IS COMING RIGHT OUT OF THE PUMP MOUNT DIRECTLY OUT OF THE TOP, THERE IS LIKE A SQUARE OPEENING IN THE MOUNT AND ITS BUBBLEING OUT OF THERE. NOT FROM EITHER END AND IT DONT SEEM TO BE MAKING ANY NOISE. CAN YOU GET TO THE RELIEF VAULVE WITHOUT DROPPING THE PUMP? AND I DIDNT SEE AND OIL DRIPPAGE OR SPRAYING ANY WHERE ELSE.

Sounds like your valve chamber gasket is leaking. Can you see the bolt on the side of the pump? Reach in and tighten them. It's along shot but if they are tight and the fluid is still coming out them you'll have to drop the pump and replace them. You might want to consider a re-build kit (~$200) as long as you have to get it out.

If it is dropping like that and wont lift weight then you have a leak,it maybe something or maybe nothing, you should change the safety valve and the check valve which is combined, as that is the usual cause of this, it may be something else but this needs changing anyway to be certain as they do wear. If you email me I will send you the information you need to search for the leak and to change this valve.

You don't need to drop the pump to change the relief valve. The leak you have would appear to be a leak on a side chamber BUT to make sure, drop the oil level a little so you can see just where it is coming from. As long as you have a couple of inches in the bottom it will be enough to test it. Usually when a side chamber leaks, it is only one cylinder (its a 4 cylinder pump)that will leak and when it "misfires" on that cylinder, because of the leak, the hydraulics will lift in a jerking fashion, not smoothly as they should do. Find the leak BEFORE you even attempt to remove the Pump as you wont find it when its on the workbench as there will be no pressure to leak.If you can avoid removing the pump do so.....John

THE LIFT ACTUALLY LIFTS SMOOTHLEY UNLESS I ONLY RAISE THE CONTROL UP ABOUT 2IN OR SO THEN IT WILL JERK COULD THIS STILL BE ONE OF THE CHAMBERS? I WILL DRAIN SOME OIL OUT TOMORROW AND INVESTIGATE ALITTLE FURTHER I WILL BE SURE TO LET YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT I FIND THANKS TALK TO YOU SOON

If it is working on all 4 cylinders of the pump it will lift smoothly,if it drops there is a leak elsewhere. But do change the relief valve as they always need changing after they have been in service for some time.Once the valve is changed you will know that it isn't the valve and you can look elsewhere. The Relief valve can leak but it is usually the check valve which is part of the relief valve which isn't sealing and that causes it to drop The jerking you are experiencing can be a couple of things, check that there is little or no play in the Draft Control Spring at the back of the drivers seat. With a 2 furrow plow mounted and raised, you should just be able to turn the spring by hand without any effort. If it is slacker than this it can move the plunger rod inside the spring back and forwards which will be altering the Control Valve, this will cause it to jerk the valve. It can also be the Control Lever that is set incorrectly, this is linked to the draft Spring, so if one is wrong the other one is as well. To adjust the quadrant Lever you will need to slacken off the 4 setscrews that hold it to the tractor housing and gently pry it backwards and forwards until you get it right. The Draft Spring needs to be set FIRST and then the Control Lever. This should be set so that the hydraulics do not drop at 2-1/4" measured from the front of the lever when it is at the top of the quadrant to the rear of the lever when it is part-way down the quadrant. Do not force the adjustment of the Draft Spring, it will most likely be seized up and if you do it will twist the Control Fork inside. You need to try penetrating oil and maybe a Blow torch if that doesn't make it move. If the hydraulics fluctuate (jerk) when then implement and lever are fully in the raised position then try moving the Control Lever forward from the maximum lift position until it stops. This is usually either incorrect Draft Spring adjustment or incorrect dimensions of the implement mounting frame to which the tractor is attached. If you want written information on how to set all this, just email me at:-
