Ferguson TO35 PTO

I have a 55 TO35 that has the live pto but from what I found it looks like it was not an option until later on. Was it actually ann option in 55 or is the year not correct ? According to the S/N it should be a 55. Thanks
for any info you can give

The three letters in front of the numbers tells you what that tractor should be. If the "third" letter is a F it is a single clutch an M is a dual stage clutch and that would give you a live PTO. A Y is differential lock and W means multipower. When it actually became available I do not know.

After looking in a Jan. 1955 TO 35 Owners Manual it sounds as the Standard Model Tractor only had the single clutch while the Deluxe Model Tractor had the dual stage clutch. When the dual clutch was an option for the Standard Tractor I don't know. So according to this book there were only two models of the TO 35, the Standard and the Deluxe.

Hi I have a friend that has a 1955 Ferguson 35 and the ser. number is SGM I75058 and I cant find that number anywhere. It has the 2 stage clutch and is yellow and gray. I guess you have to do a lot of digging to get to the bottom of these transition periods when company's are merging. Does anyone have any thoughts on this one? Thanks in advance.

If you look at the serial number link in the left column on this page and follow it thru the Ferguson link to the TO35, you will see that the number you gave is for the 1957 model year. As for being yellow, some Fergusons are known to have been ordered by schools or highway depts. for maintenance.

Chris.. You've got a Deluxe. I've got a 55 to-35 deluxe as well (green/gray s/n 141741). There were 2 versions in 55. Standard, and Deluxe. Deluxe came with the tach, 2stage clutch, cushy seat, ground speed pto as standard.

So yes, you're tractor can be a 55 and have the live pto.

Oh, and you probably won't have any letters in front of the serial number if it's a low number. None on mine.
