No lights… Not sure why, but I took that to mean the lights just do not work on the old tractor as is often case or maybe it never had them. Maybe it was meant as you took it.
I am curious where you got the solenoid? Was it supposed to be for a TO-35? It can’t be specifically because according to the wiring diagram I am accessing they did not have one. Did you possibly get a solenoid for a Ford tractor application? They ground the small terminal on the solenoid by a switch pushed by moving the gearshift to the start position and/or pushing a mechanical button. Any chance you can post a picture of your solenoid? Or tell us if it has some letters by the small terminal(s) to label it or them? The solenoid you need energizes it’s magnetic coil when power (12v) is applied to its small terminal. This is the same thing Jim.ME is getting to at the end of reply #17.
