ferguson tractor

my father-in-law put me in charge of selling a tractor we have here and he swears it is a mf to35 but my husband says it is a harryferguson to35
can someone please explain the diff to me??

mf is short fort Massey Ferguson and Harry ferguson is a person.

Massey Fergson are red and gray in color, Fergusons are solid gray, at least that has been my experience. Hope this helps.

if it is a TO35 then it's a freguson and if it's a 35 then it's a massey ferguson

Bring us a serial # and we'll help you to identify which one it is. MF35 OR TO35. Either way, a great little tractor!

Not sure why you placed the numbers on two different lines. Where was the 91351 number?

If the Serial Number is TO3551 you have a TO-20 tractor not a TO35 or a MF 35.

The best way to tell at this point is to look at the left side of the engine. See if it has any of the following.

Z120 -- then TO-20 which agrees with the SN
Z129 -- Then TO-30
Z134 -- Then TO-35.


Another way to tell is that the TO-20 and TO-30 had 1 gear shift lever and an "S" on the shift plate (used to start the engine, although many times this may be over ridden) The TO-35 has two gear shifts. 1 gear shift and one Hi Low shifter.

That is not totally correct. True the TO-20 and TO-30 were both all solid gery. However, the TO-35 came out as a Green body and Grey sheet metal. Then in 1956-57 it was beige and silver/grey. Finally in 1958 it became Red and Silver.

Only in 1960 did the name change to MF35 and it retained the Red and silver colors.

There is no difference between the two physically other than paint color, decals and small engineering changes made during the production run.

The TO-35 was introduced in 1955. At the time Massey-Harris-Ferguson had two compeating tractor lines... Much like Mercury and Ford. Same company different dealers. Then in 1957 they consolidated the lines to Massey Ferguson and all tractors were renamed MF's... except the hugly popular TO-35. It retained the TO-35 name until 1960 when it to was renamed the MF-35.

Jeff sounds like you know your 35's. I have some questions for you. I saw an original ad one time for a MF 35 where the tractor was green bodied and tan sheet metal? What years was this color produced and also I have a MF 35 turf special It looks to have been originally orange, is this correct? Can you answer any of these? Thanks in advance.

i really do appreciate your help and it is starting to make sense to me somewhat,lol

here is what i found on the tractor just now
right below the steering wheel it sats HF TO-3551
then right at the top of the steering wheel behind it i guess there is a silver metal tag that says serialno. TO-91351
then on the engine it says Z129A601 <D16P>

front right side of the tractor it says TO- 9008-PH6
on the left side it says TO-3009
there is a s on the shift

so does that mean it is a to30?
and what does that mean to me as for listing the thing to sale, just want an idea at what i am dealing with here, if there is a market for these?
