Figure this out

Today my son went to check the mail. He road his 1973 Honda CL125 out to do it, drive ways a mile long. Well on his way back he got about 100 yards from the house and down shifted, his bike back fired and died. Well he parked it out side instead of in the shed so I told him go put it away but figured I would have him try to start it so as to maybe listen to it and see why it had died. Well first kick and it started right up. I told him I guess I scared it because if it hadn't started I would have pull out some tools. But what really makes this funny is this happens to me a lot. People will call me and say this or that will not start or they bring me things that will not start but yet when I try they start up. So whats happening or do I just scare things LOL.

I guess you got the same touch a guy i was in the Air Force had. Anytime I sent him out to fix an aircraft and ask him he did to fix it he would reply "Just Magic". This guy knew them old F-111's inside and out so I never questioned his "Magic".

old i need you to come out an holler at my m. flooded it, put new plugs in it, then the starter gave up the ghost, had that rebuilt. put it back in, the one of the battery cable ends cracked. so i bought 2/o cable, lugs and hd truck terminals. some crimping, some soldering, and tomorrow i'm gonna get that stinker started so i can get the other tractors out of the barn. yeah, it was the last one in, and the loader is down. barn is 60x120, three doors, and i got junk in the way at every door. i gotta get that straightened up!!!!!

When I worked in a farm equipment shop as an apprentice we had a 3/4 ton flatbed that we had to air up one tire about every 2 weeks. One day the foreman told me to fix the leak and I took the tube out and could not find a leak. I knew that if I did not go to parts and get a patch thee foreman would think that I did not try to fix it. I got a hot patch and just put it on the tube at random. No more leaks! Possibly valve core??? Surely we would have checked that. Been over 40 years ago No such magic since

hey old, why don't you come and yell at my old chevy. i hit the key and i get nothin' thought it was a dead battery but threw the carger on there and still nothin'! not a big deal but she was my first truck and would like to run it a little this winter! i think the selinoid is shot.

Tell you what. Send me your address and I'll send you a piece of my hair then you can clone me and then I can do just that for you and wavy my hand over it and make it run. But you better use a fast cloning machine so as to get a clone that is old because a baby clone might not work LOL

I was doing field work, and a motorcycle came up the hill, got half way up and cycle quit, he got off and started kick starting it, I made several 80 rod rounds thinking he could get it started, this went on for 45 mintes. I stopped, went to help him if I could. He was tired of kick starting it. I dont know much about cycles, I said your tired of kick starting let me kick for a while, one kick and it started, we were both amazed. Never saw the guy again, never happened again just one of those things. And I lost my touch that day

Its the same thing as that noise in your car, you take it to the mechanic, and the noise quits. Until you are almost home from the repair shop, when it starts up again. My mom used to refer to the phenomenon as "The perversity of inanimate objects". She liked to use "ten dollar" words. It rubbed off. Sorry.

Hey Dairy Farmer, I had the same thing with 2 Chevy trucks before. If the headlights still work , it is usully the wire that comes from the wiring harness and runs down to the starter. It seems to corrode in the harness behind the brake booster. I think it is red or orange. I would think this is your problem. Post back to lest me know.

what year was yours that corroded the wire. i didn't get time to look at it today but mine is a '91. at first i though it was my clutch safety switch but i will look tommorrow or tuesday whem i get time.

A Ford mechanic from a local dealer told me this story, which he says he witnessed: A woman kept complaining of an intermittent rumbling sound in the back of her new Ford. It was in and out of the shop several times - the mechanics checked and tightened everything they could think of. Finally they removed the fuel tank and opened it. Inside they found a sealed pop bottle with a note in it that said, "It's about time you guys found this!" Must have been a little humor on the assembly line.
