FINALLY bought them!

As some of you know, I've been trying to buy two 642 Ford combines that JWWnga found for me back in December. Well, I finally bought them today. The man made me a good deal on two combines, two corn heads, and a grain head. I moved the first one home today. Here are pictures--if they work.
More pictures will follow when I bring them home. This one is the best of the two and to my suprise with a new battery it fired right up.This one will be put back to use very soon. This is the first combine that I have hauled with this truck and trailer. All the DOT permits, regulations, high insurance and having to go through the whole CDL process has finally paid off.Sure was nice to haul with my own truck and lowboy and be legal doing it.

That's great!!! I hope everything goes well for you. That sure is a good-looking machine. Nice tractor-trailer too. It's wonderful to hear from you.

Good to hear you got them! I assume you had to let the air out of the tires for overhead clearance? Good to hear it will be put back to work, too. We're still waiting for spring to get here - no one has been able to start field work yet. No one is even thinking about combines around here right now.
It looks like I -may- have a chance to go look at the 642 in MN in person in a couple months. As far as I know, it's still there... I still have the owner's phone number, maybe I'll have to give him a call.

Hey FordFarmer,Yes I let the air out of the tires for clearence. It wound up 13 feet 11 inches even like that.If you are seriously interested in a 642 I have info on one that was on the U.S. Farmer website a couple of months ago in Ohio.I called the guy and got some good pictures of it.It is a 1978 hydrostatic drive with like 1600 original hours. It has auto header height control and a newer style 15 foot grain head with a Hart Carter floating cutterbar. The guy said that it never sat out from under the shelter in bad weather and I believe it,It looks GREAT!Wanted $5000 and I will bet he still has it.Also forgot to mention it is a real one owner machine. The guy said they bought it new in 1984 out of a warehouse where it sat because the Ford dealer couldn't sell it.I was seriously gonna buy it but the trucking to Georgia was going to be almost as much as the combine. If you are interested I still have the pictures and contact info.Just let me know.Forgot to add this machine looks like a lot better combine than the one in MN.

Yeah, I'm getting serious about another combine. My wife would have a fit if she heard that, since I just bought another tractor last week. (if you read the Ford forum, you probably saw it- '68 Ford 5000) If I get the 5000 row crop sold, and get this 'newest' one fixed and sold, I'd be able to do it, although it's awful tempting to just pay off debt. I'd be intersted in that 642 in OH, although it would cost probably 3x as much to haul it as the one in MN. I really like the hydro in my NH1400, but I haven't developed even a slight fondness for the 'Love' bar on the head. Is that the same as the Hart-Carter floating bar? Have to do something before August, as the grain head for my 1400 needs to be replaced or have a bunch of $$ put in it.

JoeMi,Every part I order is still avalible from Claas. Most stuff is very resnoable compared to other brands.Claas is a great company to deal with.Where are you from?
