First Cub tractor.

I just hauled in my first cub tractor. Has a few issues I'm working through. One of those that I want to correct is a fuel leak at the carburetor from a brass bolt. No idea what this is for and wanted to inquire purpose before I removed. Looks like a felt washer behind the head of the bolt. Did tighten the bolt slightly but still leaking fuel.

Are you talking about the brass hex head on the outer side, low and near the front? It is the main jet. It can be unscrewed to clean the jet (or to check fuel flow into the carburetor). It should have a fiber gasket.

Stick with Facebook......lots of good answers there🧐. Including the suggestions to buy a kipa carb. Especially since you said the "brass bolt" is stripped

Both Zenith and IH carbs had a fiber washer under the head of the plug. Remove the plug and have a look at the threads before you try to tighten it any more. The washer is probably bad but the threads on the plug or in the body could be stripped. Can you post a picture of the carb on your tractor ?

There are reprints of the factory service manuals and parts books available for the Cub. The operators manuals still exist but reprints are available too.
