4 days ago my JD D rt. rear tire was flat in the A.M. It was sitting next to, not on . an old flush cut tree stump. Noticed all kinds of cracks etc. where the tire was folded at bottom.this tire looks to be 50+ yrs old but otherwise looks like new( not much tread wear!).I pumped it up and it's been holding since. Anyone have a this happen. Can I hope this tire might still hold air a while?

Check for a slow leak around the valve stem. You may need a new one.

Changing the valve core would be a good (and easy/cheap) place to begin. If tire has or had calc. in it it may have messed up the water valve. Check with your local ag. tire shop or tractor dealer for parts and advice. Armand

So you want to know if the tire healed itself? Maybe but don't count on it. If it goes flat again you might get by with a new tube when you get tired of pumping it up.

There are tire dressings that can help a bit with cracks if not through the fabric. Is it possible a miscreant person let the air out? JimN

Yep, slow leak on valve until it gets down to a certain level when valve will not hold at all. Did you have a valve dust seal cap in place? Thought not.

My tires have looked like that for 15 years. Mine still hold air. I would just keep hoping it will hold as long as it can cause them tires aint cheap! I have seen some that looked like they wouldnt hold air out of the tire and still work!lol

A couple of weeks ago I had that problem with 2
tires, changed the valve core,in both and they
seem to be holding air now. Those tires tubes and
cores were from 1958,
