Flooded 4024 Mississippi River

I have a model 4024 JD gen-set that went under water at our hunting camp. After getting rid of all water, cylinders and crankcase, and dried starter, engine would not start. (Removed exhaust manifold and blocked exhaust valves open in order to discharge water from cylinders) Turned over very slow with a kick back. Battery switch was on at the time of flooding and there were signs of crossover voltage/current on the slave solenoid terminals. Oil was forced up into the valve cover, no signs of water in upper end. The packager does not have information on the electronic injector control circuit. A model 2019 that was in the same condition was started within minutes of dewatering. I feel that there were crossover voltage/current in the control package and need to know what parts could be installed in the field, parts numbers, and etc. Also need wiring schematic of the electronics. Cannot bring the unit out due to water over the roads and do not want the system to sit idle too long.
Any help is appreciated.

Need more data such as serial number, year etc. There were several versions of the engine as the safety nazis in the EPA & CAFE.Attempt to pass enough laws to eliminate engines, vehicles and machinery.
A fresh water rinse of all wetted electronics while de-energized is vital to remove dirt and salt.
If the electronics were live when flooded. They maybe ruined.

Thanks for the reply. There was voltage to the starter switch when the units flooded. The unit was not running. If the slave solenoid crossover voltage indication is an example,(terminals corroded) I feel the same condition most likely is present at the ignition switch/control panel. Did not remove the engine control panel and examine the components. Would not have had the parts.
There is no salt water invloved, only MS mud. I contracted with Fairbanks Morse for 30 years and am familiar with engines and controls and can follow instructions. Problem is the unit is on an island west of Tunica MS and I am back in Destin, FL. With good information and parts I can help from this end. Did not bring back the Ser # and etc but will get it to you hopefully tomorrow.
I was able to dry the generators and had high megger readings so I do not expect problems there. I disabled both and will not energize until the engine has run.
Thanks much, Maurice

The following should help you evaluate the problem. The packager still has not provided me a schematic of the electronic portion of the system. Only basics, volt meter, amp meter, and etc. I had them send the following parts and plan to change out all components that have anything to do with the Woodward Governor and electronic injectors.
All dealers up and down the river are dealing with flooded units and you have to stand in line to get help.
A schematic of the electronic system would be most helpful along with any other suggestions you may have. At this point I am going to find someone that is familiar with any control circuit to install the parts and give it a try in the woods.
It could be several weeks before the roads are passable.

Thanks again, Maurice

Is the unit insured? Unless you have tools and experience. The quickest solution would be to replace everything electronic. Even if some soaked parts operate now. They could fail over the next few hours.
