Flywheel for A John Deer

Need fly wheel was wondering if any one knew of a place would have one. Dont know year of tractor, but do have serial number which should tell year. S. n. is486584

'40 is the year and I probably have one.You never mentioned electric or hand????

my book says its a 39 1940 starts at 488000

If your tractor is hand start the flywheel is A29R and was used from the start of production in 34 to the end of the 39 model year. At sn 488000 (1940 model year) the flywheel changed to a A2449R and was used from then on. Electric start had a different flywheel and was used from the start of 39 model year, sn 477000 and up.
For your personal information, your tractor was probably built about early to mid June 1939 (39 model year ended June 30th). The last 39 model A built was 487247 and then they started over at 488000 for the 1940 model year.
In short, any unstyled and 39 styled flywheel will fit. Hope this helps.
