For the Purists

I got a goofy question for the purists out there. While cleaning up the latches on both of my 51 8Ns, I discovered that Both of the battery cover latches had red paint on the latch arm, hidden under gray paint. I find it hard to believe that both my 51s had different POs paint them red. So, were these actually painted Red from the Factory, or is this just a coincidence?? I painted mine red after blasting them. Just curious about this.
Thanks!!!
Dave

Dave;
I think you should paint the outside of the door PURPLE......then zebra stipe the closer handle with ORANGE and GREEN!!!!!!! Then match the rad. cap with the ZEBRA Stripeing. WHAT A NICE CONTRAST THAT WOULD BE!!!!
The cows will even stay away from the "N"!!!!!! :lol:

Well, Okay, but I was ready to buy some wild paint and do a number on those parts, IF you did it first. Glad I didn't run right out and buy paint now!! LOL!!!

I enjoy learning more about these old tractors. I had always thought the part was painted gray like the hood. Thanks for the reply on what you found GEO.

Just for kicks......the engineers at Ford made the mistake.Prints call for the latch to be painted red,but should have been zinc plated.Vendor supplied item and so they went by the prints and painted them red. don b
