The original subject was Ford 1600 Hydraulic oil leaking into transmission.
I have a 1978 Ford 1600 2wd that I keep running. I have found through research that the Hydraulics and Trans reservoirs are connected somehow. I don't quite understand it. My tranny oil is cloudy while the hyraulics appear clean and clear. I will be changing out the tranny with UTF. I think water is getting in through the PTO shift boot. (Replacement boots are very hard to find!) I traditionally have been using TSC's Traveller Premium Universal Tractor Trans/Hydraulic Fluid. But it seems all the TSCs are out of stock. So, I am looking for another suitable UTF. It would be good to keep up with others with the same tractor.
