Ford 2n correct paint color

I have a 1947 Ford 2n and I am about to paint it. Is the correct color for this year the dark grey, or is it red and grey? Also, Is the gas tank painted?

the 2n was painted as a whole unit. called Machinery Grey, from lowest paint bidder.

tank was likely tinned or cad plated.. but the entire tractor got shot on the line.. starter and all.

I am interested in Soundguy's Fuel tank paint comment. I recently painted a 2n and opted to paint tank. Have noted since that most fuel tanks on other tractors were not painted from factory either.
What was the rational for this. Assuming tanks are tinned or cad plated was it detremental to paint?
