Ford 3000 governor linkage issues

This post is in regard to a post I saw back in 2016. It was regarding someone who was having throttle linkage problems. The symptom was he would open the throttle, and the governor arm which actuates the carb throttle arm would be delayed or seem like it was sticking or didn't have enough spring pressure. The result would be moving the throttle to about the 2/3rds position and then the spring pressure would over come the resistance and the throttle would kick way open, then from there you'd have normal function to top rpm and then normal function all the way back down.

So I know this post is old, and I'm sure
you figured the problem out or created a
work around. But I ended up having this
same problem. I just recently purchased a
ford 3000, and was going through it front
to back doing all the maintenance that
should have been done over the years.
Long story short one of the things I did
was buy a carb rebuild kit. When I
rebuilt the carb it came with a new
throttle arm and seal for the throttle
arm. It was a nice snug fiction fit which
felt fine absolutely fine to me. Well
come to find out after I adjusted the
linkage per book spec, and crossed all the
tees and dotted all the eyes. I cleaned
up the spring and throttle arm and well as
the governor arm. They were very free
moving and the governor arm followed the
throttle arm perfectly. Then I connected
the governor arm to the carb throttle.
Well there it was problem still remained
with the thottlenkicking wide open once
spring tension was high enough. So I took
the carb off, put the old arm back in it
which was very free moving. And that was
the fix, the spring pressure for the
governor arm is ultra sensitive and works
only when there is zero resistance in any
part of the linkage. Now my throttle
moves with the governor and the governor
is working properly as well.

Anyway I hope this helps someone down the
line here.
