Ford 3000 hydraulic problem

The hydraulics are not steady. They go up with increased engine rpm and down with decreased rpm = not good for shreading. Any idea on what to check or what needs to be replaced or rebuilt. I was told me may be the valve under the drivers seat. I need to replace the filters anyways... I doubt the filters would cause a problem like this.

The only valve I know of is on the right (curb) side of the main housing and screwing in reduces fluid flow and slows implement response for times when you want the implement to move slowly.

Might lift her up to the top, shut off the engine and see what happens. If it doesn't stay up you either have valves leaking or you need a new oring on your lift cylinder. Probably that as it is rubber and the cylinders are all steel. Plenty of info and diagrams in the archives.

Had the same problem. My 3000 hydrolics also would lift fine with no weight, but would only lift 1/2 way with load. Anyway, there is a small pin on the internal lift linkage. It rides along a lift cam and through time gets a groove worn in it. (all located under trans cover, tricky & heavy to lift off, suggest 2 people) Cost of pin is $3.00. Replacing that fixed ALL my hydrolic issues! My draft control works fine and she lifts round bales every 3 days. Good luck.

I see you are lifting round bales. Man up the road has a 3000 gas model 1975. I would like to buy the tractor but don't know if it would lift a large round bale (in excess of 1000 lbs & 6' X 6'). He said there is a problem with hydraulics but he has the kit to replace the seals. If hydraulics are operating properly how much will it lift in your opinion.

a 3000 with correct hydraulics will lift a 5x6 bale all day long....(est.1200-1500lb). I do have a FEL on mine..........without one, may require front weights.

I have lifted 5x6 rolls weighing around 1800 lbs, with an early thousand series Ford but it took a bracket in front, attached to the axle with 6 concrete (not cinder) blocks in it...roughly 6x8x12" or so dimensions.

The lift has the ability. Problem is the front end is too light to offset the weight and you have to steer with your rear brakes. Grin. A little tricky.
