i have a 1970 ford 3000 s o s / i just bought it / i can not find the s o s fill plug ? is the rear end (diff) and three point oil sepaerated / and is the oil type the same? thanks for any help ut

There is no fill plug, this is to keep you from overfilling it. You fill it through the check plug hole. Trans uses NH 134 hydraulic fluid, just like the other sumps do.

I have a 3000 diesel. the fill plug is on the left side behind the seat. hyd and trans are together. there is a plug that is located on the left side about half way down in trans you take it out and fill from top till it runs out................... dang I ment to say the right hand side for both

Same fluid works in both however they are seperate systems. SOS trans. Is filled thru the fluid level plug located on right side midway on trans. Case.

Rear end (differential) and 3 point hydraulics is one sump. Fill hole for the rear end/3 point hydraulics is on top of rear axle center housing under where you right butt cheek is when you're sitting on the tractor. Level check hole is on the right side near where you right foot is when you're sitting on the tractor.

Transmission is a separate sump no matter what transmission you have on a 3000. The S-O-S transmission has a single hole on the right side near where the trans housing bolts to the rear axle center housing. That single hole is for filling and for checking the level of the fluid.

Both the rear end/3 point hydraulics sump and the S-O-S transmission sump should get a UTF that meets the Ford/New Holland M2C134D specification.

You should get yourself an owner's manual, as all of this is covered in there, along with pictures of where the fill and level check holes are. If you aim to do more than regular maintenance yourself, a service manual is recommended as well..
