Ford 4400 vs 4500

I have been looking for a loader and backhoe that were factory made to fit a 4400. I have seen some components that would fit the 4400 (according to literature) mounted on 4500 tractors. Are the engine, transmission and axle housing the same between the two? Is there a lot or a little difference between the two tractors?

They are same basic tractor.

The main difference is the front axle and the front shell (nose). Both are heavier on the 4500.
Otherwise they are the same basic tractor.

I believe the factory loader for a 4400 is a model 735. (19-525) I'm not sure about the backhoe.

Hello Rhocutt, As noted in some of the other posts the engine, some transmissions(4500 has transmissions that are not available in the 4400), and the rear axle are the same between the 4400 Utility tractor and the 4500 Industrial tractor but that is where it ends front axles, powersteering, hydraulic packages, loaders and some backhoes do not interchange between the two. The 4400 uses a 735 loader which fits only a 4400, a 4500 uses a 740 loader which fits only a 4500, and is also the backhoe mounting on the 4500. The backhoe mounting kit for a 735 loader on a 4400 is a seperate subframe assembly that bolts on. A 4400 can use a 750(10 foot dig depth) or 753(13 foot dig depth) Ford backhoe the Heavy Duty 755(15 foot dig depth) will rip the subframe apart because it is to big and too heavy. The Heavy Duty 755 is for the 4500 only. Also the 4500 is much heavier in the front end to keep it on the ground with the 755 hoe.
