Ford 4500 TLB Broken Swing chain

We broke the boom swing chain on our Ford 4500 TLB (#755 bh). Does anyone know where we can buy the #120 steel leaf chain at a reasonable price? Also is there any one out there who has experience with replacing this chain and who could give advice or tips/tricks on how to proceed, before I go to tear into things and make extra work for myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

shop around ay the salvage yards listed by guys on this forum. new NH wants $1100.00. you only have one pin on each end and a drop in pin in the center.look at CNH parts site for your model for diagram and parts list.

Thanks carogator. I will start here by asking if any forum readers might have a chain or chain links they want to sell. I will defer to the more knowledgeable readers to help guide me to the most likely sources of used parts. Let me know if you have any names for me.

Thanks. I had looked on ebay before I made this post, but I could not find anything. Could you please tell me what Category it is listed in and under what heading.

OK, I"m a little confused here. Right and Left sides? The chain on my 4500 755 bh is one long one piece chain. I wouldn"t know where to attach those L & R things. How would they replace the long chain?

JF, I think if you look a little closer that your chain is/are 2 pieces. Look at the center of the boom for a pin holding and pinning the chain to the boom. Otherwise the chain would slip past it when pulled left and right (theres no sprocket :D ). 265 seems about the going rate should be easy enough to find and change,.. Id be more worried about why she broke,.. if theres any looseness or play side to side you have a leaking swing and need to bleed the fluid out from the rear of the cylinders. If it just broke well then thats life I guess. I like to chain mine down when Im bombing around the yard, dont need that thing banging around making things worse :D Also its 36 years old and needs some babying!! I dont try to swing the hoe while digging like you can with a new machine, pull and dig straight back and then reposition. Good luck with her!

another thing, once you have the old chain off you need some rod or slack to get the new chain on, this means you have to pull that rod out a little to get at it and pin it. Theres no room in there to work so you need the rod almost all the way extended. This is one way but dangerous. The hydraulics only work in one direction meaning it will only go in, the chain is what pulls it out, and its broke , so disconnect the hyd line from the swing to allow hyd fluid to escape. Undo the air crossover line and pump some air into it. If the swing is nice and tight it will take some force to get the rod extended, if the seals are blown it will slide out real easy. Be careful cause once the air builds up a little that rod will come out like a bullet and kill you. Tie a piece of rope to the eye end and get back, put 20#'s into it and give it a tug then if it doesnt move a little more, it should come right out. Theres also 2 bleed nipples that look just like brake bleeders, crack them and push that hoe in the other direction to pull the other rod out on the good chain side, that will help getting things back together.
