Ford 5000 hydraulics for loader

I just bought a bush hog loader for my 70 ford 5000. The tractor has a single spool hydraulic valve. The loader has a joystick controller on it. Can i use the existing valve on the tractor to control the loader or do i need to use an adapter plate? If I can use the existing how do i go about that? If not, then what is involved in putting the adapter plate on? Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

I did that, Plugged the input from the loader into one remote and the return from the loader into the other remote. My tractor valve has a detent so I just pull the valve past the detent and leave it there. You may have to adjust the output pressure in the remote. Works just fine. Your problem will be you have only one remote so you can't use a disk or something else and also use the loader.

Lots of tractors have a way to hook up a "power beyond" port- that is, another hydraulic circuit that is always live. Maybe check on the Ford board.

I've also found that you can learn a lot from the parts manual about how to hook up this kind of stuff.

If you still want the use of your rear remote then a power beyond plate would be the way to go to for the loader.

If your going to be doing a lot of loader work I would look into a front crankshaft mounted hydraulic pump as the internal pump in the 5000 makes for a slow loader.

If it's a decent size loader with big cylinders you best just mount a stinger pump on the front of it right now or you can plan on going for coffee while methusela lifts that to extension. A 5000 makes about 5 gpm...
Just hope you have a 5100 (5000 AP) and not the 5200 (RC). The latter can not accept a stinger shaft due to the axle configueration and front bolster.

You can plug the loader valves supply and return lines into the tractors remote valve, tie the remote handle back to keep flow going thru the valve
Later if your satisfied with the loader you may want to add a adapter plate and plumb the loader direct to free up the remote for other uses

Hello elvis.. welcome to YT! DS450 gave you some good info but let me help you shoot a little higher. You are tacked on the end of a 12 year old post and you don’t tell us what tractor you have (could very well be a Ford 5000 but we don’t know) this is not ideal for getting the best bang for your buck here. I would suggest you start your own Thread on the YT Ford forum in the Manufacturers section in the main forum list. Here is a link to it YT Ford forum
When you get there click Post Thread in the red box at the upper right. Title it your make and model and loader blows filter gasket. And give the short details like you did here. It would probably be optimal if you added a photo of the loader valve and its hose connections as well as the connections to the “adapter plate.” Photos attach through the “Attach files” button. Not a Ford guy but it sounds like the oil return from the loader is being directed back into the tractor at the wrong place, if that is right or wrong I have no idea.

Short answer is, you hooked it up wrong, and now the system is "deadheaded." How you hooked it up wrong, is impossible to say at this point.

But yeah, this is a 12 year old thread. Instead of posting "me too" like you did, in the future start a new thread. It's free. Nobody is going to yell at you for that. They might yell at you for hijacking a 12 year old thread though, lol... As a plus, you are asking a new/related question instead of commenting or offering suggestions on an issue that was resolved years ago.
