Ford 5000 oil

What is the right oil for the 5000 trans. I was reading a while back and read that the trans oil is supposed to be M-4864-A, I don't know where I got this number but I wrote it down and kept it. What do you guys use ? I just got through putting all new bearings and seals in and want to be sure I put in the right oil. Thanks

Something that meets or exceeds the N H 134 D spec. Do not use a cheap oil that says "will work for". Use one that says "meets or exceeds".

Do find a utf oil that mentions the M2c134 spec.

some bargain basement utf oils won't list any specs and instead say good for older tractors..e tc.. I'd be ok with that in an 8n.. but not a 5000

Am I right in thinking the 134 D is OK for the trans and the hydraulics. I was thinking the 134 D was just for the rear end. Thanks again. I just want to be sure.

134D is good in all 3 of those.

3? I thought that the 5000 was like the 3 cylinder 2000/3000/4000 models. The trans is one sump, and that the rear end/hydraulics is one sump. Where's the third?

UTF = universal tractor fluid... also called transdraulic fluid.

it's fin in power steering, hyds, trannies, diffy, final drives, front axles.. etc.

i think he was replying to a lower post that asked if 134 was ok for trans and hyds as he thought it was only for diffies.

as for the 5000 sumps.. apparrently there are a couple combinations.

even common sump like a 5600 for late 75's like mine....
