Looking for people to tell me the Pros/ Cons of the Ford 5610 w/ 4WD. A friend is looking at one to buy. He will probably get a loader for it at some point.

Tough as nails. The MFWD is the right choice for loader use. We"ve used several of the 10 series (5610,6610, 7610) to spray R.O.W. for power companies. They were outfitted with cages and received less-than-the best maintenance, yet went day after day, summer after summer.Wish they still made them, we would buy them, instead of green ;/

Great tractor. I have a 4610 52hp but the 5610 is 62 hp. MY father in law has a 4610 4wd w/ loader and it is a nice tractor. The Ford loader on it is really heavy duty, almost overkill for the tractor.

The 5610 was replaced by the 5640. I have a 5640 4x4 with loader and cab that I bought new, and love it!! Use it every day to feed cows, gets at least 10 hours per week, and now clocks 6200 hours. That is the old analog style hour gage , not the new digital one that adds on a hour when the key is on even if the engine isn't running. We had to put in a new clutch at 5000 hours, otherwise just maintenance.

5900 was a Mexican-made, no-frills, 5600-spec tractor made concurrently with the 5610. Sort of a predecessor to the S series.

Good strong tractor. They are a little noisy. The MFWD is not the tightest turning one either but held up well. Should ask over on the Ford forum. I think that there where two different hydraulic pumps available on them. One was a little slow for a loader.

They're a good solid reliable tractor for the most part if you do some basic maintenance on them... They're also not very plesant to work on if equipped with a cab and loader... but that's perhaps a secondary concern. You'll probably find it heavy and underpowered with that setup as well but you pick your poison. They are quite tough...
That said, of that vintage, at this point in time... if it has a loader... you check everything on them from front axle, hydraulics, brakes, clutch, dual power, transmission shifting and so on. There could be any number of problems, minor or major.
