Ford 800 5-speed shifter detent plug sealing

Working on a Ford 800 5-speed trans rebuild. As expected, the small gaskets behind the three shifter detents plugs fell apart as I removed them. I heard they were stupidly expensive at the CNH dealer, and not available as aftermarket part?

Has anyone tried a small section O-Ring, combined with Loctite thread sealant?

O-rings work fine, no need for sealant.
