Ford 8n engine trouble

my friend has a ford 8n he just rebulit the bottom end of the motor. It would turn good but when he put it in the tractor it becomes stuck. I think it has something to do with the clutch but i have never worked on fords so any ideas of things to check.Thanks

I have never actually rebuilt one of these little engines but have rebuilt others and what it sounds like to me is improper thrust bearing clearance. Did he even check for this?

Put the tranny in neutral and see if it will turn over. If so, the clutch may be stuck.

Tractor is in neatrual and stil wont turn.

Can he roll the tractor with it in neutral? If so, it's not the clutch. Could the starter gear be stuck in the flywheel?
