I have my grandfather's '47 8N for restoration. The right rear wheel has all the signs of major leakage, including no braking action. I read all the great forum notes, ordered manuals, and have replacement seals and brake pad assemblies. Initially, the hub did not move on the axle, but loosening the axle nut and rocking the wheel allowed me to remove the hub without a puller. The hub must have been replaced sometime; it has only two flat head screw locations to hold the drum to the hub. Everything is soaked with oil, but I'm guessing the oil leak is coming down the shaft splines. Any way to inspect/measure the hubs and axle shaft splines for excessive wear before I put it back together with new seals?
