A friend of mine has a 8n and the other day was driving it seemed to lock up and kill the engine, it will run fine with clutch pushed in but when you let it out it bogs the egine down and stalls it, doesn't seem to be locked in gear. Any help would be great. Thanks Doug

If your sure it is not in 2 gears then how cold it is where you are?? Had my 841 do that this winter due to water in the transmission which when it got down to around zero froze which in turn froze the transmission up so not go and no engine run with out the clutch being pushed down

It would seem strange that it would freeze while operating it. I would pull the cover off and verify that it isn't locked in two gears or a possible broken tooth that jammed in the gears.

2 things you can try so as to know what is going on. #1 take stick and drop it into the transmission by way of the oil fill hole and see if you have hard oil as in ice. #2 loosen up one of the drain plugs and see if you get a dripping of water if warm enough that is to have water.
