Ive got a 98 2WD ford F-150 im trying to change rear drum brakes they never have been changed and I cant get the drum off. i loosened the brake spring and still cant get it off anyone have any ideas

there's a deep ridge in the drum lined with rust. You need to get in there and back off the adjuster as far as you can get it. You will have to PUSH in the little adjusting bracket off the little gear and then use a brake tool to adjust the gear back to close.

may need to take a torch and heat drum around axle flange so drum will pop off just don't over heat it and warp it .

Is it stuck on the axle or the brake shoes?

If axle,a torch works well.So does a good penetrating fluid(not WD-40) to loosen.

If stuck on the shoes,you need to loosen the auto adjusting wheel.Even if you destroy the spring washers by prying off,a hardware kit is pretty cheap.Pro'ly needs them on each side anyway.

Just spray a good penetrant around the axle end and let it set a few minutes.Then take a 4 pound shop hammer and give it a couple of good whacks out near the edge.The penetrant and the shock from the hammer blows will do the trick.

In the shop we would use an air hammer with a flat
tool in it. Ran it around the center of the drum next to the lug bolts. Usually took a couple of times around the center and the drum would almost fall off.

If your truck is what I remember, you have parking brake shoes inside of the back of the rear rotors. Like a drum on the back of the rotor. I usually remove parking cable to be sure it is not holding shoes expanded. They may be jammed and give you something else to fight.
